Dear Dr. Samadi
Thank you so, so much for developing your skills and for pioneering new techniques that make you one of the world’s top surgeons. I have certainly benefited greatly from your expertise. Let me explain.
You performed my prostatectomy on Sept. 26 at Mt. Sinai. I had three days of mild discomfort at the incision points, but these were well controlled by Percoset, then Tylenol. By Sunday, October 3rd, I was eating regular food and needed no pain medication at all. The next day I had my catheter removed.
This is the amazing part. At the nurse’s suggestion I wore a Depend’s brief for the two hour ride to my home in the Catskills. I had no pain at all during the ride, and didn’t need a sitting ring. I did not leak at all on the ride home. In fact, I have had full urinary control for the three weeks since the catheter was removed. I am now back to my regular activities, pain free, enjoying our grandchildren, working on the house, and enjoying life.
I also want to thank your staff for their expertise, guidance, and consideration. Pre-op they did everything from explaining and handling insurance procedures, making sure I received all of the testing I needed, and explaining how to do Kegel exercises. I worked diligently on the exercises, so I am sure that contributed a lot to my bladder control. As an aside, one surgeon I considered using dismissed Kegels as unhelpful … thank goodness I chose you. Post op your staff was also very considerate and helpful, especially easing my worries about catheter removal.
So, thanks again for making this significant surgery a non-event!
Sincerely;
Bill M.
